Wind Cave National Park protects two very different worlds - one deep within the earth, the other a sunlit world of many resources. Bison, elk, and other wildlife roam the rolling prairie grasslands and forested hillsides of one of America's oldest national parks. Below the remnant island of intact prairie sits Wind Cave, one of the longest and most complex caves in the world.
The Park Store will be closed on Wednesday, October 30th, to accommodate the completion of store inventory. An online store can be found at https://blackhillsparks.org/shop/ . The store will return to normal operating hours on Thursday, October 31st.

Guardrail repair project on Highway 385 begins October 7. Temporary traffic signal lights will be installed. Motorists can expect delays of five to ten minutes. The entire project is expected to take two weeks and be completed by approximately October 20.

Due to a complete replacement and modernization of our elevator system, tours of Wind Cave will be closed from May, 2024, through early winter. There is no access to the cave during this project. Updates will be posted here when available.

Reminder: Overnight parking without a camping permit is prohibited. Permits are not issued specifically for parking. Shuttles are available in the Black Hills for through hikers on the Centennial Trail.
