Hot weather causes elevated water temperatures that are stressful for coldwater fish such as trout. Fishing compounds this stress and hampers the fish’s ability to recover when caught and released. When water temps exceed 68* fish suffer.

The comfort station located in upper Loop 1 in the Platte River Campground is closed indefinitely due to a water main break. Handicap port-o-johns are available. Seven full-service restroom/shower sites remain available throughout the campground.

An area surrounding and including the Old Indian Trail system is closed. An infestation of Hemlock Woolly Adelgid (HWA) has been identified in the area. HWA is an exotic invasive insect that can rapidly defoliate and kill hemlock trees.

Stage I Fire Restrictions go into effect on Saturday, August 3 across Northwest Montana. All campfires are prohibited, including the use of wood and charcoal grills. Smoking is only allowed in an enclosed vehicle or a 3' wide area clear of vegetation.
